There have been 539 DUI arrests so far this year compared with 609 during the same period last year, representing a decrease of 11.49%.

The public is notified that convoys are planned for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Sept. 20 between Pōhakuloa Training Area and Kawaihae Pier.

The project in Hawaiian Beaches is slated to begin Sept. 14, with work hours of 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and expected to be completed in August 2027.

Big Island police identified the victim as 43-year-old Faavae Maualaivao of Kāneʻohe, Oʻahu, who was found unresponsive after being ejected from his motorcycle during the crash; an autopsy was ordered to determine his exact cause of death.
