The center of Hurricane Erick was about 265 miles S of Hilo as of 5 p.m. Thursday.

Weakening is expected during the next 48 hours, and the remnant low is forecast to dissipate by Wednesday.

At 5 a.m., the center of newly formed Tropical Storm Cosme was located near latitude 15.6 North, longitude 115.7 West. Barbara now a post-tropical cyclone.

By Friday, Barbara is expected to turn back toward the west with an increase in forward speed.
