What’s Closed on July 3?
Independence Day is being observed by federal, state, and county office on Friday, July 3 since the fourth day of the month, the actual day of the holiday, falls on a Saturday.
It isn’t being treated as a normal federal holiday, however, at the United States Postal Service.
USPS spokesman Duke Gonzales told Big Island Now that things will be “business as usual” on Friday. All post offices will be open and mail delivery will go on as usual. The only difference is that administrative personnel will have the day off.
All postal services will be closed on Saturday.
Most major banks will remain open on Friday. Hawai’i County Employees Federal Credit Union, however, will be closed.
All state and county government offices will be closed. Public libraries will also be closed and resume normal operating hours on Monday.
The county’s Hele-On Bus will operate under a holiday schedule. Operating routes will run from Hilo to the South Kohala resorts, Pahala to the South Kohala resorts, and North Kohala to the South Kohala resorts.
