Independence Day is being observed by federal, state, and county office on Friday, July 3 since the fourth day of the month, the actual day of the holiday, falls on a Saturday.

All state and county government offices will be closed. Public libraries will also be closed and resume normal operating hours on Monday.

The county’s Hele-On Bus will operate under a holiday schedule. Operating routes will run from Hilo to the South Kohala resorts, Pahala to the South Kohala resorts, and North Kohala to the South Kohala resorts.
