Hawaiian Electric ends public safety power shutoff watch the included South Kohala on Big Island
Hawaiian Electric reports that with weather conditions continuing to improve, it is ending the public safety power shutoff watch that included parts of Maui and South Kohala on the Big Island.

“We know that [public safety power shutoff] events do have an impact on everyone’s daily lives,” said Hawaiian Electric Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Jim Alberts in the utility’s update at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 11). “We sincerely thank our communities and our customers for their patience and understanding that the [public safety power shutoff program] is for public safety.”
Any power outages today were unrelated to the public safety power shutoff program.
Customers still without power should call Hawaiian Electric’s Trouble Line to report the outage.
