A fire hydrant flow test at Home Depot will affect streets along Makaʻala Street in Hilo next week.

The Department of Water Supply will conduct the test at the Home Depot in Hilo from 11 p.m. to midnight Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026.

County water customers along Makaʻala Street between Railroad Avenue and ʻOhuʻohu Street, including all side roads and lanes, may experience discolored and turbid water for several hours after the test.

Customers are advised to refrain from washing clothes and to store a container of water for drinking needs until the water supply is restored to normal.
