Puna man arrested for terror threat incident Saturday

Hawaiʻi police are investigating a terror threat incident that occurred yesterday on ʻAʻama Street in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision in Puna.

A 40-year-old man, George Foote of Pāhoa, entered a residence and threatened to burn down the structure. Police and members of the Hawaiʻi Police Special Response Team responded to the scene and apprehended Foote without further incident.

Foote is currently being held at the Hilo police cellblock. Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Division are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Jenny Lee of the Area I Juvenile Aid Section at 808-961-2279, or call the police department’s nonemergency line at 808-935-3311.
