Pāhoa High and Intermediate School locked down after student sees alleged threat

Police are investigating following an alleged terroristic threatening incident this morning that involved an anonymous threat led to a school lockdown in the Big Isalnd’s Puna district.

The threat was later determined to be bogus.

Hawai‘i Police Department officers received a call at 9:53 a.m. Wednesday from staff at Pāhoa High and Intermediate School, reporting a student saw a social media post threatening the facility.

The school responded by quickly implementing lockdown measures to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

Police arrived a short time later at the school. Officers remained at the scene until it was determined the threat was false.

The lockdown was lifted at 1:45 p.m. and classes were dismissed as usual.
