Scheduled Big Island lane closures for Jan. 19-24

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation notifies the public about its scheduled lane closures for the week of Jan. 11-17 on the Big Island.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, on Monday, there will be no Highway 130 morning contraflow or lane closures unless otherwise permitted.

Lane closures can change at any time without notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY/KUAKINI HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 11) —

1) KEA‘AU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 6 to 8, in the vicinity of Old Volcano Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting and mulching trees.

2) PĀHALA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 44 to 45, in the vicinity of Kapapala Ranch, on Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for cutting grass.

3) KĒŌKEA-HŌNAUNAU

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 97.3 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for safety improvements.

Single lane closure on Kuakini Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 116 to 118, in the vicinity of Walua Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

— HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD/QUEEN KA‘AHUMANU HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 19) —

1) NĪNOLE

Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 17 to 19, between Kauniho Road and Waikamalo Park, on Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for mowing and shoulder work.

2) KAILUA-KONA

Single lane closure on Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 97 to 98, in the vicinity of Honokohau Street and Hale Makai Place, on Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for drainage cleaning.

— KEA‘AU-PĀHOA ROAD (HIGHWAY 130) —

1) PĀHOA

Single lane closure on Keaau Pahoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile post 7.7 near Ainaloa Boulevard, on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for maintenance of faded crosswalk and reinstalling broken tuff curbs.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 190) —

1) WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

2) WAIKŌLOA

Single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, on Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and striping.

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (HIGHWAY 250) —

1) KAPA‘AU

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 9 to 14, Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for mowing and shoulder work.

— PŪ‘AINAKŌ STREET (HIGHWAY 2000) —

1) HILO

Single lane closure on Puainako Street (Route 2000) possible in either direction between Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, Tuesday, Jan. 21 through Friday, Jan. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving and shoulder work as part of the Puainako Street Improvements. Click here for details.

1) KEAUKAHA

Shoulder closure on Kalanianaole Avenue possible in either direction between mile post .07 to .09, in the vicinity of Kuhio Street on Tuesday, Jan. 21 and Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for installing turf curbs fronting the General Store.
