Police Seek Witnesses to Hilo Vehicle Collision

badgeAuthorities are seeking information on a two-vehicle collision that occurred Tuesday in Hilo.

Police responded at about 4:51 a.m., where they determined that a 2004 Peterbilt rubbish truck that was traveling south on Kilauea Avenue collided with a 2001 Lincoln four-door sedan that was traveling west on Kawailani Street.

The driver of the Lincoln, a 29-year-old man, was taken to Hilo Medical Center and was later flown to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. He was in critical condition.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should call Officer Keith Nacis at 961-8119 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
