Pair Charged Following Incident at a Hilo Home
The Hawai’i Police Department responded to an 11 p.m. call Monday of a possible domestic dispute at a home on the 200 block of Iwalani Street.
Upon arrival, South Hilo patrol officers located two people in the house.
One of the individuals, Hilo man Davin Mizuno, had a temporary restraining order against him by an 86-year-old woman who owned the home.
Thirty-year-old Mizuno and Ashley Szewerda, 21, of Mountain View were arrested and taken to the Hilo police cellblock as detectives continued to investigate the incident.
Police determined that a koa jewelry box was located in Szewerda’s bag. Along with the jewelry box, officers recovered 0.7 grams of heroin, three prescription pills, two marijuana pipes, and other drug paraphernalia in Szewerda’s purse.
Mizuno was charged on Wednesday with criminal trespass and violating a court order. His bail was set at $1,500.
Szewerda was charged with criminal trespass, theft, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a harmful drug, promoting a detrimental drug, and possessing drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $9,000.
The pair remained at the cellblock until their Thursday court appearance.
