Weekend Lane Closures
The following temporary weekend road closures have been announced by the State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation for Saturday, Oct. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hawai’i Belt Road, also known as Highway 19, will be under an alternating single lane closure in both directions between Jardine Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway. The work will be conducted in the vicinity of Kaawalii Gulch.
Continuous activity on Umauma Bridge in Hakalau will cause alternating lane closures near mile marker 16 on Highway 19 to remain on a seven-day-a-week, 24-hour schedule as bridge rehabilitation work is underway. Speed on the bridge is reduced to 20 miles per hour.
All lane closures are weather permitting and have the possibility of changing without notice.
In addition to these lane closures, two other traffic changes have been scheduled over the weekend.
Traffic patterns will change along Kapi’olani Street on Saturday for the Country Fair at St. Joseph School. The temporary one-way traffic pattern will flow in the Puna direction only between Hualalai Street and Wailoa Street and will last between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Additionally, the County of Hawai’i Department of Public Works has rescheduled traffic signal work for Sunday, Oct. 4. During the maintenance, some lanes at the Kamehameha Avenue and Bayfront Highway intersection will be limited from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
