Convoys Travel from Hilo Friday, Saturday

In addition to convoys traveling from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa Training Area that began Tuesday, the Army Garrision Hawai’i announced that convoys are scheduled to travel between Keaukaha Military Reservation and Pohakuloa Training Area beginning Friday morning and continuing through Saturday.

Oahu-based service members will travel the roads between KMR and PTA from May 1-2 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

During the convoy, service members will travel along Hilo Airport Road, Kanoelehua Avenue, West Puainako Street, Komohana Street, Puainako Extension Route 2000, and the Daniel K. Inouye Highway. Convoys will be escorted by the Hawai’i Police Department.

Motorists who plan to travel these roads are advised to remain alert and drive with caution.

Together with local authorities and military units, the PTA Department of Army police is coordinating the convoys in support of unit training.
