The Department of Water Supply says that waterline work for the Kamehameha Avenue Reconstruction Project will cause a temporary water shut-off on Tuesday, March 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Kamehameha Avenue, from Bishop Street to the Wailoa Fisheries Research Station in South Hilo, will be affected.

When water service resumes, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned. This can cause discolored or turbid water. Customers may also notice trapped air in their plumbing. The air will release upon initial use of water.

DWS advises customers to take precautions to protect property and facilities, including unplugging devices that are dependent on water pressure or supply.
