Police Renew Request for Information in Waiakea Uka Fire

The Hawai’i Police Department is once again asking the public for information in regards to a fire that occurred on Dec. 10 at the Waiakea Uka Gym in Hilo.

On Dec. 10, HPD and the Hawai’i Fire Department responded to a 4:30 a.m. report of a fire. Upon arrival, the fire was found concentrated at the northwest corner of the gym.

The fire was extinguished by fire personnel and the damage to the walls and roof was estimated at $65,000.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
