The Hawai’i Police Department has charged 52-year-old Michael Alan Hoke in connection to a domestic violence incident that occurred Sunday morning.

According to HPD, officers responded to a 9:17 a.m. call where they learned that a 17-year-old boy had been involved in an argument with a household member at their Hilo home. As the argument escalated, the teenager was reportedly struck with a sharp object by Hoke, which caused a laceration to the boy’s upper body.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Hilo Medical Center with substantial injuries. He was treated and released.

Police arrested Hoke at the scene and he was taken to the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Division continued the investigation.
