UPDATE: HPP Stabbing Suspect Released

Daniel Holland, suspect of a stabbing that occurred in Hawaiian Paradise Park Thursday, was released by police Friday at 2:40 p.m., pending further investigation.

The victim of the stabbing, who has yet to be identified, has been upgraded to serious but stable condition at the Queen’s Medical Center.

According to the Hawai’i Police Department, a stabbing occurred in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision over the Thanksgiving holiday.

At about 9:40 a.m. Thursday, police responded to reports of a stabbing. When they arrived on scene, it was determined that a man had been stabbed with a knife in his upper abdomen.

The 32-year-old victim was transported to Hilo Medical Center for treatment and later flown to Queen’s Medical Center.

Daniel Holland, 57, was arrested for first-degree assault.

Holland remains at the Hilo Police Cellblock pending further investigation.
