The deep well at Hawaiian Ocean View Estates is operating again, and the county hopes to be able to provide potable water to residents of the area tomorrow.
The Department of Water Supply said although the well’s 300,000-gallon reservoir is nearly full, standard water quality tests must be performed before the water can again be turned on at the well’s spigot station.
Spokeswoman Kanani Aton said the department is planning to flush the system and do final testing in time for the spigots to resume operation by about noon.
“The DWS asks for your continued patience as we employ our standard procedures regarding water quality to ensure the water is safe to drink,” Aton said in a statement issued this afternoon.
Meanwhile, alternate spigot sites remain available in Waiohinu and Ho`okena.
The well went out of commission on April 2. An inspection of the system on April 10 found that the pump and motor needed replacing.
