Neighbor Brandishing Firearm Prompts School Lockdown

Keonepoko Elementary School was briefly placed in lockdown mode early this morning after a woman at a nearby home was reported brandishing a firearm and allegedly pointing it in the direction of the lower Puna school.

Police responding to a 7:18 a.m. report arrested 49-year-old Lokelani Lenore Harbrecht-Kalua on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.

She was taken to the Hilo police cellblock while detectives continued their investigation.

The lockdown was lifted following the arrest.

Keonepoko is located on Kahakai Boulevard mauka of the Hawaiian Beaches and Hawaiian Shores subdivisions.
