Konawaena High School goes on brief lockdown following reported affray

A Konawaena High School student was arrested Tuesday afternoon following a behavioral disturbance that resulted in a campus lockdown.

According to a letter from the school administrators sent to parents, the lockdown occurred at 11 a.m.

Hawai‘i Island police were called to campus to assist and the student was arrested just before noon.

The lockdown was lifted at 12:30 p.m.

“Contrary to rumors circulating on social media, no weapons were involved,” the letter stated. “All students and staff remained safe during this incident.”
