A Kea‘au man out on bail for terroristic threatening charges was arrested this morning after failing to appear for a court hearing and a search warrant on his home revealed he had firearms.

In February, Dylan Jessen Gapp was arrested and charged with the class C felony. A restraining order was filed against the 31-year-old in March. He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing in court on April 9, however, he was a no-show.

The judge issued a $10,000 warrant for his arrest.

Hawai‘i Police Department’s Area I Crime Reduction Unit along with the Special Response Team executed the warrant following several investigations today involving Gapp reportedly having firearms, in violation of a protective court order.

Upon initial execution of the search warrant, Gapp was not home; however, he returned to the residence a short time later and voluntarily surrendered to police without incident at 10:05 a.m.

There were no reported injuries to Gapp or police personnel.

Gapp is being held in the Hilo police cellblock while the Crime Reduction Unit continues the investigation. Gapp was also arrested on the strength of a warrant for the offense of Failure to Appear, stemming from a previous terroristic threatening case.
