#Prince Kuhio Plaza

The assault happened earlier this month outside a bar in downtown Hilo; the robbery and employee assaults took place at the end of August at a business in Prince Kūhiō Plaza on Pūʻainakō Street in Hilo.

The fair starts at 9 a.m. and goes till 5 p.m. Wednesday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, with free admission.

The street was previously closed between Maka‘ala Street and Puainako Street.

The event – presented by Pacific Media Group and the Hawai‘i Island Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals – will take place Sept. 9 at Prince Kuhio Plaza, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The 21st Annual AstroDay, a free science and astronomy event, will be held May 6 at the Prince Kūhiō Plaza in Hilo.

Legendary musician Melveen Leed and kumu hula Iwalani Walsh Tseu were at a craft fair at the Prince Kūhiō Plaza in Hilo giving an impromptu performance when the general manager asked them to leave, sparking some community outrage.

Saturday is the last day of the 60th Annual Merrie Monarch Festival, with the Royal Parade in the morning and the last hula competition and crowning of the group champions in the evening.

The second night of competition takes place Friday at the 60th Annual Merrie Monarch Festival with groups performing hula kahiko (ancient hula dances).

Today, the competition begins at the 60th Merrie Monarch Festival, with 12 candidates vying for Miss Aloha Hula.

The action isn’t just at the Edith Kanaka‘ole Multi-Purpose Stadium and Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium during Merrie Monarch Week on the Big Island. There are several other venues throughout Hilo and East Hawai‘i that will feature hula, music, arts and crafts, Hawaiian cultural events and other entertainment.
