Hawai’i Island DUI arrests drop slightly in early December, fatal crashes decrease

Hawaiʻi Island’s effort to combat impaired driving is reflected in a 5.88% decrease in DUI arrests, with 849 incidents recorded through the end of 2025.

Kona had the most DUI arrests during the week with 8. Hilo came in at a close second with 6 followed by Puna with 5. There have been a total of 564 DUI arrests so far this year around the island.

Big Island police arrest 14 motorists for DUI during week of March 4-10

So far this year, there have been 184 DUI arrests compared with 203 during the same period last year, a decrease of 9.4%.
