DUI arrests and accidents on Big Island for week of Feb. 27 through March 5

So far this year, there have been 194 DUI arrests compared with 209 during the same period last year, a decrease of 7 percent.

18 motorists arrested for DUI on Big Island during week of Feb. 20 – 26, 2023

Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Traffic Services Section shows there have been 147 major traffic crashes so far this year, a 31 percent increase from the same time frame last year.

HPD Arrests 20 for DUI

To date, there have been 14 fatal crashes resulting in 14 fatalities.

HPD Arrests 18 Motorists for DUI Violations

Six of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.
