Kurt Suzuki, a 2001 graduate from Baldwin High School on Maui, will become the first MLB manager from Hawai’i when he takes command of the American League West team.

The league season is Dec. 1 through Feb. 26, 2026; registration is open through Oct. 29.

The field is absolutely stacked, filled with world champions and Olympians, making this one of the most competitive lineups in recent memory, and while anything can happen, one thing is sure: the race will be a star-studded showdown.

Nearly 230 student-athletes representing all 12 University of Hawai‘i at Hilo sports teams posted a combined record-high grade-point average of 3.32, topping last year’s previous combined record-high grade-point average of 3.28.

Hawai‘i County Parks and Recreation invites Big Island anglers to cast a few lines from Aug. 15-17 for a chance to win some great prizes and awards while enjoying their favorite pastime and family fun. 

The season will continue through Aug. 31, excluding Aug. 27-28, when the area will be closed for ungulate management operations.
