High Surf Warning Prompts West Hawai’i Beach Closures

Kahalu’u, Waiaha, and La’aloa beach parks have been closed because of high surf. A High Surf Warning is posted for West Hawai’i shores until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Breakouts of the June 27 lava flow remain active. One has advanced 225 yards in a 24 hour period and could potentially reach Apa’a Street in the next 3-5 days.
