To foster meaningful cultural experiences in Hawaiʻi’s visitor hubs, the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority is investing $397,000 in seven Hawaiian cultural programs and practitioners through its Hoʻokipa Malihini Initiative.

“Chief of War” is set during the conflicts to unify the Hawaiian islands in the last decades of the 18th century.

Hawai‘i County Parks and Recreation invites Big Island anglers to cast a few lines from Aug. 15-17 for a chance to win some great prizes and awards while enjoying their favorite pastime and family fun.

Meanwhile, the annual Independence Day Parade and Independence Day Extravaganza fireworks exhibition return to downton Kailua-Kona for everyone’s 4th of July evening enjoyment.

Open call issued for musicians through July 25. The Beyond the Mic music showcase will feature four rising Hawai‘i Island selected solo artists or music groups to have their voices and stories elevated.
