Strong Earthquake Shakes Philippines; No Tsunami Generated
A 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck the Philippines today, Hawaii time, did not generate a Pacific-wide tsunami, the US Geologic Survey said.
The quake struck about one mile northeast of Catigbian in the Bohol province, at a depth of about 12 miles.
It occurred at 2:12 p.m. Hawaii time, or 8:12 a.m. Wednesday local time.
