Public Warned About Door-to-Door Magazine Sales Scam
Police are warning the public to be on the lookout for a scam involving the selling of magazines door-to-door.
The salespersons say they are selling the magazines to benefit a local high school, cancer research or to get points for college.
These individuals obtain personal information from the buyers which can be used fraudulently, and magazines purchased never arrive.
The companies making the pitch often originate in Colorado and go by various names including Frontline Communications, HP Consulting and MD Network. Colorado’s attorney general has secured a default court judgment against the perpetrators in that state for more than $1 million.
Those who have encountered these individuals and need to make a police report can call the department at 935-3311.
