No Threat to Hawaii from 6.7-magnitude South Pacific Quake

No destructive widespread tsunami threat is expected from a earthquake that struck in the South Pacific this afternoon.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center is reporting a 6.7 magnitude earthquake occurred at 12:52 p.m. HST in the New Britain region of Papua New Guinea.
Although localized tsunamis within 100 miles of the earthquake’s epicenter are possible, there is no expected tsunami threat to Hawaii.
