Kanehailua Promoted, Named in Charge of West Hawaii Operations

Mitchell Kanehailua, a 29-year veteran of the Hawaii Police Department, has been promoted to major and placed in charge of the Area II Operations Division in West Hawaii.

During his career Kanehailua has served assignments in nearly every district on the island. His most recent position was captain of the Area I Criminal Investigations Division in East Hawaii where he was commander of criminal investigations, vice and juvenile aid.

His promotion took effect on March 1.
