County water service will be again be shut off in Na`alehu on Friday to allow for a connection to be made to the new Ka`u Family Health Center.

This shut-off is scheduled from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Customers that will be affected are located along Mamalahoa Highway from Ohai Road to Kukui Road, including Niu Street and all other roads and side streets in that stretch.

Water was previously shut off in the area last Friday afternoon, also for the health center connection.

When water service is turned back on waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time customers may notice turbid or discolored water. Air may also be trapped in plumbing but will be released as water is used.

The department is reminding affected customers to take any precautions necessary to protect property and facilities including, but not limited to, disabling electrical power to pumps or any other devices whose normal operation may be dependent on water pressure or water supply, and which might be harmed if automatically energized during the water shutoff.
