Big Island police are looking for a Ka`u man who escaped from the Hale Nani Correctional Facility.
Police said Dallas Wesley Runyon, 32, left the facility without authorization on Saturday.
Runyon is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds. He has blue eyes and shoulder-length brown or blond hair.
He was last seen wearing a white shirt with the word “Inmate” printed on the back, grey sweat pants and shoes. He may have a goatee and mustache.

Runyon also has several tattoos, include a gargoyle on his right forearm, a dragon on his inner left forearm and others on his right arm and both legs.
Although he is not considered dangerous, police advised the public to avoid contact with him and to instead call Det. Joel Field at 961-2381 or by email at [email protected].
Hale Nani is a component of the Hawai`i County Correctional Center. The facility located in Panaewa, on Highway 11 just outside of Hilo, is the focus of HCCC’s reintegration program for inmates who will be released on the Big Island and those on work-release programs.

A call to HCCC for information on Runyon was not immediately returned.
