‘Tis the season: Operation Santa accepting letters

Thousands of families send letters every year to Santa at his North Pole workshop, and for the past 114 years U.S. Postal Service ensured holiday wish lists were delivered to the Jolly Old Elf himself to make the holidays warm and bright.

Operation Santa is again underway, accepting letters from keiki and families from throughout the mainland, Hawai‘i and Puerto Rico.

People adopt and respond to these letters to help Santa fulfill holiday wishes.

Letters should be sent to Santa’s official workshop address at Santa Claus, 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888.

“The holidays are a time to celebrate the joy of the season. But for some, the simple act of exchanging even small gifts is out of reach,” said U.S. Postal Service Vice President of Marketing Sheila Holman. “For more than 100 years, Operation Santa has given kindhearted people the opportunity to make dreams come true for thousands of children and their families through simple acts of kindness.”

Submitted letters must follow program guidelines and postmarked by Dec. 5 to be eligible for potential adoption and fulfillment — there is no guarantee letters submitted will be adopted.

Letter adoption

Registration starts Nov. 2 to adopt letters. People can register as individuals or groups.

The letter adoption window opens Nov. 16, at which time registrants can adopt single or family letters to help brighten the holidays for those in need.
