Kealakekua man arrested after indictment for promoting child abuse

Hawai‘i Island police arrested a 50-year-old Kealakekua man Sept. 8 following a grand jury indictment charging him with two counts of second-degree promoting child abuse.

The charges against John Gonzalez stem from an investigation in which police recovered an electronic device later found to contain numerous sexually explicit images involving children.

Gonzalez was arrested on the indictment. His total bail was set at $100,000.

His initial court appearance was Sept. 9.
