High surf advisory for southern shores extended again

National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu have again extended a high surf advisory for south-facing shores of the state.

The advisory is not in effect until 6 a.m. July 26, with surf of 7 to 10 feet causing large breaking waves and strong currents that will make swimming and other recreational ocean activities dangerous along those shorelines.

Forecasters advise the public to heed all advice from ocean safety officials, and remember: when in doubt, don’t go out.

The current south-southwest swell that triggered the high surf advisory for southern shores of the state at the end of this week is on a gradual decline; however, an overlapping pulse of south-southwest swell is expected to push south shore surf to advisory levels again by midday Saturday and through at least tonight, possibly through Sunday.
