Military aircraft training will cause more jet engine and aircraft noise over Hawaiʻi Island for the Rim of the Pacific 2026 exercise next month.

Rim of the Pacific is a biennial international maritime exercise that sustains cooperative relationships critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes. The exercise includes humanitarian aid and disaster relief training, crucial for ensuring military units and service members are ready to accomplish their missions and return home safely.

Rotary, fixed, and jet aircraft will conduct training flights over Hawaiʻi Island from Kāneʻohe Bay and Kona to Pōhakuloa Training Area. Depending on weather, noise from jet engines and aircraft will increase with intermittent daily flights from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday, July 6, to Monday, July 27.

To report concerns related to noise or training, contact the U.S. Army Hawaiʻi Community Concern Line at 808-787-1529 or usag.hawaii.comrel@army.mil. Responses will be made from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
