Students can learn from prestigious musicians, build skills during music institute this summer
Students across Hawaiʻi have an opportunity to learn from prestigious musicians, engage with like-minded peers, and build skills during a summer intensive—the Pacific Music Institute.

The Hawaiʻi Youth Symphony will host the Pacific Music Institute, a series of workshops, rehearsals, and performances, from July 3-12 at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and ʻIolani School campuses.
Under the artistic direction of Maestro Joseph Stepec, participants will receive high-level instruction from top faculty in its Strings Program; Winds, Brass, and Percussion Program; Jazz Intensive; ʻUkulele Workshop; and Middle School All-State Band.
The camp will conclude with a series of community concerts, showcasing the students and what they have learned, as well as performances from distinguished faculty.
Housing packages will be available at Hawaiʻi Pacific University for students interested in dorm accommodations. Dorm stays at a summer music camp offer a great way to enhance the experience for students in ninth grade and above. Room and board packages include meals, transportation to and from programs, and adult chaperones.
“Pacific Music Institute takes students to the next level, while building confidence and fostering lifelong friendships,” said Hawaiʻi Youth Symphony President and CEO Randy Wong. “It’s a unique opportunity for students to focus on both their playing and performance skills alongside others who share the same passion and love for music.”
