19 lane closures scheduled during week of Feb. 15-20 on Big Island state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 19 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Big Island state roadways on weekdays throughout the week of Feb. 15-20.

Note: In observance of Presidents’ Day on Feb. 16, there will be no contraflow or lane closures unless otherwise permitted.

HIGHWAY 11

HILO TO VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0 and 32 in the vicinity of Banyan Drive to past Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping and pavement markers.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 14 and 16 in the vicinity of North Laukō Road and North Peck Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for mowing the vegetation.

VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 27 and 30 in the vicinity of Haunani Road and Kīlauea Military Camp, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for Hawaiian Electric installing new powerline poles and lines.

PĀHALA TO NĀʻĀLEHU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 50 and 60, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping and permanent markers.

NĀʻĀLEHU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 54 and 56 in the vicinity of Nīnole Loop Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for shoulder work.

OCEAN VIEW

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 80 and 84 in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strip, striping and permanent markers.

KĪPĀHOEHOE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 86 and 89 in the vicinity of Papalani Place, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for tree trimming and mowing the vegetation.

KEAHOU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 114 and 115 in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and Puʻuloa Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for mowing the vegetation.

HŌNAUNAU TO CAPTAIN COOK

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 105 to 109 in the vicinity of Filipino Clubhouse Road and Koa Road, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for removal of existing striping, new striping and permanent markers.

PĀPAʻIKOU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 5 and 6 in the vicinity of Kāhoa Place and Kaʻaukai Place, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for tree trimming and shoulder work.

HONOMŪ TO HAKALAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 11.5 and 15 in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Chin Chuck Road, from Feb. 15-20 for emergency zone work, pavement repair.

HAKALAU TO LAUPĀHOEHOE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 17 and 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for mowing the vegetation.

LAUPĀHOEHOE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 25.2 and 25.4 in the vicinity of Mānowaiopaʻe Homestead Road and Puaʻalaea Homestead Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for exploratory drilling.

ʻŌʻŌKALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 29.8 and 32 in the vicinity of ʻŌʻōkala Graveyard Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for Kāholo Stream Bridge work.

HIGHWAY 130

KEAʻAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction near mile post 2.5, in the vicinity of ʻŌpūkahaʻia Street from 6:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Feb. 18-20 for installing traffic loops.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 6.1 to 6.3 in the vicinity of Orchidland Drive and Paradise Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for installing a waterline pipe.

HIGHWAY 190

WAIMEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0 and 1 in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālamilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for applying new striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 12.2 and 16.4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for applying new striping.

HIGHWAY 250

HĀWĪ

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 15 and 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 17-20 for shoulder work and tree trimming.
