Water will be turned off temporarily for customers along Kaiwiki Road in Hilo on Tuesday next week.

Crews will shut off the water for customers from Kōpaʻa Road to the mauka end of Kaiwiki Road from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, for a water main repair.

Upon resumption of water service, waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, which may cause turbid or discolored water. Trapped air in the plumbing will also be released during the initial use of water.

Affected customers are advised to take precautions to protect property and facilities, especially if devices are dependent on water pressure or supply and might be damaged if automatically energized during the water shutoff.

Customers should set aside drinking water ahead of time to meet their businesses’ and households’ essential water needs until normal service resumes.
