16 lane closures scheduled during week of Nov. 1-7 on Big Island state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 16 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Big Island state roadways during the week of Nov. 1-7.

HIGHWAY 11

MOUNTAIN VIEW

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Volcano Road possible in either direction between mile posts 20.5 and 21.5, in the vicinity of Luna ʻIkena Road and Old Volcano Highway, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for mowing, mulching, and shoulder work.

NĀʻĀLEHU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 60 and 71, in the vicinity of Kahuku Ranch Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for restriping, installation of centerline rumble strips and pavement markers.

PĀHALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 57 and 58 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for cutting grass.

PAPA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 85 and 96, in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway and Kaʻohe Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping and pavement markers.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 98 and 100, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for cutting grass and shoulder work.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Volcano Road possible in either direction between mile posts 27.5 and 28.5, in the vicinity of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and Crater Rim Drive, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for Hawaiian Electric installation of new powerline poles.

HIGHWAY 19

KAWAIHAE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kawaihae Road possible in either direction between mile posts 58 and 60, in the vicinity of Kō Uka Street and Ohina Street, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for tree trimming and shoulder work.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kawaihae Road possible in either direction between mile posts 60 and 64, in the vicinity Ohina Street and Kawaihae-Waimea Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for cutting grass.

NĪNOLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between mile posts 18 and 19, in the vicinity of Government Main Road and Old Māmalahoa Highway, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for bridge maintenance.

PĀPAʻALOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between mile posts 22 and 24, in the vicinity of Uweki Road and Pāpaʻaloa Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for cutting grass.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between mile posts 7 and 10, in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway and Kulaimano Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for grading and shoulder work

WAIMEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between mile posts 56.5 and 56.7, in the vicinity of Pukalani Road and Lindsey Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3-4 for installation of new traffic signals.

HIGHWAY 130

KEAʻAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Keaʻau-Pāhoa Road in the northbound direction near mile post 7.3, in the vicinity of Makuʻu Drive, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 3-7 for maintaining markers and delineators coming out of Makuʻu Drive.

HIGHWAY 190

WAIMEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālamilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. NOv. 3-7 for installing striping, lane lines, turn pockets and direction arrows.

SOUTH KOHALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 12.2 and 16.4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for installing striping, lane lines, turn pockets and direction arrows.

HIGHWAY 2000

HILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Pūʻainakō Street possible in either direction between mile posts 0.5 and 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3-7 for striping, installing new raised pavement markers and traffic signal loops.
