Update: Missing mother and 2-year-old daughter found safe

Monday update 1:09 p.m.: Hawai‘i Police Department reports that Emerald Marquez and her 2-year-old child have been located in good health.

Original post: A 38-year-old mother and her 2-year-old daughter are missing and Hawai’i Island police are asking if anyone knows their whereabouts.

Emerald Marquez is 5-foot-6, 120 lbs., with a medium complexion, straight black hair and brown eyes. Her toddler daughter Nuvia Marquez has brown hair and eyes.

They were last seen at about 3 a.m. Aug. 16 on ʻŌpae Street in Hawaiian Beaches in Puna, and Emerald Marquez could need medical assistance.

Those with any information that can help safely locate the mother-and-daughter pair is urged to immediately call 9-1-1 or the Hawai’i Police Department non-emergency line at 808-935-3311.
