Scheduled Hawai‘i Island lane closures on state roadways for March 29 through April 4
Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Big Island during the week of March 29 through April 4.

VOLCANO ROAD/MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 11)
PEPEʻEKEO
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 10.21 and 10.22, in the vicinity of Kaʻakepa Street, from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for maintaining crosswalks and striping in the intersection.
HAKALAU
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 14 and 16, in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway and Leopolino Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for vegetation cutting.
VOLCANO
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 28.2 and 28.5, in the vicinity of Crater Rim Drive, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for rumble strip installation.
NĀʻĀLEHU
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 57 and 59 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for vegetation cutting.
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 58 and 60 through 4:30 p.m. today (March 29) for vegetation cutting.
HŌNAUNAU
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 97.3 and 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for safety improvements.
KANOELEHUA AVENUE (HIGHWAY 11)
HILO
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 3.5, in the vicinity of Kīlauea Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for vegetation cutting.
HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (HIGHWAY 19)

- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 28 and 30 through 4:30 p.m. today (March 29) for vegetation cutting.
KAWAIHAE ROAD (HIGHWAY 19)

- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 60 and 67, in the vicinity of ‘Ohina Street, through 4:30 p.m. today (March 29) for vegetation cutting.
KEA‘AU-PĀHOA ROAD (HIGHWAY 130)
PĀHOA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 10 and 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for vegetation cutting.
MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 190)
WAIMEA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālāmilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for paving and striping.
WAIKŌLOA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 9.6 and 12.3 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for striping and installing new raised pavement markers.
SOUTH KOHALA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 12.2 and 16.4 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for paving and striping.
‘AKONI PULE HIGHWAY (HIGHWAY 270)
KAWAIHAE
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.1 and 0.9, in the vicinity of Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway, through 4:30 p.m. today (March 29) for bridge inlet and outlet clearing.
PŪʻAINAKŌ STREET (HIGHWAY 2000)
HILO
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.5 and 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 31 through April 4 for paving and shoulder work.
