Three people suffered burns following a structure in Puna Friday afternoon.

At 3:30 p.m., Hawai‘i Fire Department was called to a two-story residential wooden structure fire, where a family of four resides, in Hawaiian Paradise Park, located on the 15-1500 block of 29th Avenue. Medics also responded as burn injuries from gasoline were reported.

When crews arrived on scene, they saw smoke coming from the first floor of the home. The flames, confined to one room, were extinguished within about 30 minutes.

Three people were injured and taken to Hilo Benioff Medical Center, one patient was taken to the emergency room.

Fire Investigators interviewed patients and investigated the residence and determined the blaze was intentionally set.
