The County of Hawai‘i Department of Public Works Engineering Division will begin on-site work for the Hilo Shipman Drywells Improvements on June 4.

The work will last up to eight months, weather permitting.

The scope of work will include constructing new drainage structures, including reconstruction of roadway pavement and pavement striping and markings. The affected streets for this project will be Williama Place, Melekahiwa Place, Melekahiwa Street and Mikahala Place.

The drywells work in the Shipman Industrial Park will occur from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. During this time, be cautious of delays and lane shifts in the work area. Road work signs, delineators and traffic cones will direct the traffic flow at the work site.
