US Army issues Big Island convey alerts for Wednesday through Friday

The following is a schedule of upcoming military vehicle convoys from Pōhakuloa Training Area to Kawaihae Harbor, and vice versa. Be advised of times and locations in order to plan your local travel.

  • March 13, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (seven total) – Pōhakuloa Training Area to Kawaihae
  • March 14, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (seven total) – Pōhakuloa Training Area to Kawaihae
  • March 14, 8 to 11 a.m. (five total) – Kawaihae to Pōhakuloa Training Area
  • March 15, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (seven total) – Pōhakuloa Training Area to Kawaihae
  • March 15, 8 to 8:30 a.m. (two total) – Kawaihae to Pōhakuloa Training Area

Convoy leaders will conduct pull-over procedures on permissible straightaway sections of road to allow residents to bypass the convoy and reduce backed-up traffic.

“This training is critical to ensure military units and service members are ready to accomplish their mission and return home safely,” according to the US Army Garrison Hawai‘i Public Affairs Office.
