UH-Hilo’s Tokunaga named National Scholar Athlete of the Year; Lillie selected to All-American Third Team
Fifth-year University of Hawai‘i at Hilo senior and soon-to-be graduate Daelenn Tokunaga has received another honor for her standout performance during the Vulcans women’s soccer squad’s 2022 season, just days before walking across the stage for fall commencement.

Tokunaga was announced as the United Soccer Coaches Division II Women’s Soccer National Scholar Athlete of the Year.
She also repeated as a United Soccer Coaches Division II Scholar All-America First Team selection and was joined this year by Jodi Lillie, a Third-Team Scholar All-American.
The two student-athletes from central O‘ahu helped the Vulcans to an undefeated regular season on the way to capturing back-to-back Pacific West Conference Championships and securing a hosting bid for the NCAA Division II West Regional. The Vulcans finished the season at 13-1-3, with an exit in the second round of the West Regional.
Tokunaga achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.83 and will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice. Lillie had a 3.78 GPA and graduated in spring 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing.
