Hawaiian Electric to conduct aerial line inspections

Big Island residents and visitors might notice the buzz of a helicopter next week as Hawaiian Electric conducts aerial inspections of transmission lines.

The quarterly inspections of the utility company’s major overhead transmission lines is scheduled for 7:30-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 17-20, islandwide. The inspections are meant to help Hawaiian Electric improve system reliability.

Inspections will be conducted in a Manuiwa Airways helicopter. The aircraft will be required to fly low and slow which could cause some noise disturbances.
