Accolades for the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo athletics department continue to roll in this year. Its most recent is sealing a fifth-place finish in the 2021-22 Pacific West Conference Commissioner’s Cup.

The competition is based on the average finish of sports the PacWest offers. Points are totaled and then divided by the number of PacWest athletic programs a school offers, providing an overall average finish for the school.

Three Commissioner’s Cup standings are released per year. The first summarizes fall sports, the second adds winter sports points and the final is the sum of all sports. Final standing are released following the conclusion of spring sports.

UH-Hilo has climbed in standings during the past four years, with the fifth-place standing it achieved being its highest finish yet in the past decade. The Vulcans were 12th in 2017-18 and sixth in 2018-19. There was no competition in 2019-20 and 2020-21 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
