All Lanes of Kanoelehua Avenue in Hilo Again Open
UPDATE: Big Island police reported in a media release at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, that all lanes of Kanoelehua Avenue in Hilo are once again open. The Hawai’i Police Department thanks the public for its patience.
Motorists are being advised that one lane of Kanoelehua Avenue in Hilo is closed.
The Hawai’i Police Department at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, sent out an advisory message telling motorists to avoid and area of the roadway just south of Kawailani Street because of a paint spill that closed the Puna-bound lane.
A detour will be required for the next two hours while the spill is cleaned up. Motorists should take Kīlauea Avenue or Kino’ole Street as an alternate route.
