The skies above Hilo will be a little more noisy than usual staring Thursday.

The state Department of Transportation Airports Division in a news release Tuesday notified residents living around Hilo International Airport that the Hawai‘i Air National Guard will conduct training at the airport from Thursday to Sunday, March 3-6.

Hilo residents and other residents of the Big Island can expect increased noise with F-22 jets and C-17 and C-130 transport aircraft. Aircraft will be taking off and landing throughout the day during typical work hours.

Military personnel also will be training on the airfield in uniform, working in and around the airport area.
